Pediatric and Teen Health

  • We enjoy working with children, teens and young adults. There is no better time to start setting the ground work for future healthy life style, and their bodies respond very quickly.

  • At the same time - this is a stressful time in their lives,  with many challenging changes. A lot of kids get depressed, get side-tracked into a life of bad habits. We recommend working with a good therapist, specializing in working with teens. Acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary adjustments and meditation are great ways to compliment this work.

  • We have observed many teens becoming over-medicated in the recent years - non-pharmacological solutions we provide are a great alternative.

  • Many of our teen patients are active in sports, which is great, but overuse does take a toll on a young, growing body. We treat athletic injury and overuse, but also teach kids healthy way of managing their bodies before and after their practices through exercises, stretching, conscientious use of their body and creating mind/body balance.

  • Breathing and qi gong exercises, as well as guided meditation practices are proven very effective in treatment of depression, anxiety and panic attacks.

Teen Health

Blood Pressure, Diabetes and Other

  • We see a lot of patients with tough issues like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar - metabolic trifecta. These conditions are often a direct result of our stressful and busy life-styles. Chinese Medicine is extremely effective in addressing these conditions. Acupuncture sessions can instantly lower Blood Sugar by ~ 20 points! Acupuncture lowers blood pressure too (this is one of the reasons why we tell our patients to always eat something before they come for treatment).

  • We have a lot of success treating metabolic syndrome in our patients, often they are able to reduce or stop taking their medications. Not like with muscular-skeletal conditions, where we can achieve results in 6-10 treatments, working with patients with these conditions requires consistency and multi-pronged approach. We combine acupuncture, herbal medicine (its a must!), dietary changes and life-style modification coaching extensively to achieve our patients’ wellness goals.

  • Weight loss is often part of these goals, and working together we can achieve very good results. However, it is health, balance and wellness that we are after here, weight loss comes as an additional benefit and outcome of our partnership with the patient.

  • We often see patients with a variety of auto-immune conditions, thyroid dysfunction and broad inflammation. Same approach is taken to treating these conditions, as they definitely are addressed well by acupuncture and herbal medicine. We discuss our approach with the patients and agree on the plan to address it. We are honest and forthcoming in telling what to expect and how much we can do.

  • Lyme Disease has been on the rise, and it is notoriously tough to diagnose and treat. Luckily there are protocols (herbal and acupuncture) that have been developed by Chinese medicine practitioners, over hundreds of years, and these protocols help reduce symptoms of Lyme disease, and over an extended period of treatment provide support to patients towards the remission. Lyme flare ups can be debilitating. Chinese medicine is very effective in reducing the discomfort they cause, and reducing the frequency and severity of these episodes.

  • We would partner with your GP or specialists like hemotologist or endocrinologist to work as part of your health-care team.
